Dutch shipyard Van der Valk has begun sea trials for its custom 35.9-meter yacht Jangada, launched from the Waalwijk yard just last month. The project is scheduled for delivery in 2026, per BOATPro.
The owner is a returning client who previously commissioned a 25-meter model and a 32-meter variant under the same name. The latter was a World Superyacht Awards contender in 2020.
Jangada follows an early 2015 raised-pilothouse launch that helped shape several later Van der Valk projects. All three builds were developed in collaboration with the yard, with designer Nick Top and Guido de Groot contributing to the concept.
The design embraces the owner’s plans for a growing family and a revised home berth in the Bay of Saint Tropez. To accommodate higher noise and vibration control, the project features a steel hull, an aluminum superstructure, and comprehensive sound insulation.
Notable features on board include a private gym, 2.6-meter-high interior ceilings, expansive windows, and a jet-stream pool on the flybridge. The pool measures 4.5 meters in length and 1.5 meters in depth.
Interiors combine whitewashed timber accents with practical architectural elements. The layout prioritizes family functionality, with a full-beam owner’s suite forward on the main deck and upgraded lower-deck cabins tailored for the owner’s children and grandchildren.
BOATPro notes that Van der Valk currently has five yachts either under construction or on order, including its largest custom project to date, the 47.8-meter Project Zen.
